Crispy, crunchy Garlic Herb Spiralizer Fries are a versatile side that pairs beautifully with many meals—especially a steak hot off the grill.

Handheld spiralizers are simple, satisfying kitchen tools. They transform whole vegetables into long, uniform strands in seconds, making prep faster and more fun. I recently tried a new handheld spiralizer model and immediately found it useful for quick sides and creative vegetable presentations.
The version I tested stands out for a few practical reasons. First, it’s compact and stores easily in a kitchen drawer while still offering a secure grip and deeper reach on vegetables, which helps reduce waste. It accepts vegetables up to about 6.5 cm in diameter and features a longer cutting blade that speeds up spiralizing. Second, it comes with several blade widths—small, medium and larger sizes—so you can choose thin noodle-like strands or thicker fry-style pieces. Third, the blades are removable, which makes cleaning straightforward: the main unit wipes clean and the blades can be rinsed and scrubbed safely.

All told, it’s a compact, practical tool that’s easy to use, store and maintain. I used the medium blade for these Garlic Herb Spiralizer Fries, but any blade size will work depending on how thick or thin you like your fries.

These spiralized fries come out crisp and golden when baked properly. They make a fantastic snack on their own, or a flavorful companion for grilled meats, seafood, or roasted chicken. Spiralizers aren’t just for potatoes: they’re great for zucchini, carrots, sweet potatoes, and other vegetables you want to transform into curly fries or noodles. For these fries, I stuck with russet potatoes for that classic starchy, crispy finish.

Ingredients
- 2 large russet potatoes, scrubbed clean
- 1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 1 Tablespoon finely chopped rosemary
- 1 Tablespoon finely chopped thyme
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Insert a potato into the spiralizer and spiralize both potatoes using your chosen blade. The 5mm blade produces fries with a nice balance of crispness and texture, but any size is fine.
- Place the spiralized potatoes in a large bowl. Add the olive oil and toss gently to coat the strands evenly.
- Sprinkle the garlic powder, sea salt, chopped rosemary and thyme over the potatoes, then toss again so the herbs and seasoning are distributed.
- Spread the spiralized potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two pans if necessary to ensure even crisping.
- Bake for 10 minutes, remove the trays and flip or rearrange the fries as best you can, then return to the oven and bake for another 12–15 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Remove from the oven and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or alongside grilled meats. Enjoy!
Notes & Tips
For the crispiest results, dry the spiralized potatoes with a paper towel before tossing with oil and seasonings to remove excess surface moisture. Spread fries in a single layer and give them space—crowding traps steam and prevents browning. Fresh chopped herbs add bright flavor; dried herbs can be used in a pinch but start with a smaller amount and adjust to taste.
