I adore the scent of lavender — it feels calming, soothing and relaxing. I make a simple lavender linen spray to refresh sheets, pillowcases and the airing cupboard. A light spritz before storing linens or making the bed leaves everything smelling fresh and comforting.
If I’m feeling stressed or overtired, I often spritz the sheets and pillows about 20–30 minutes before bedtime to help me unwind.
What you need to make Lavender linen spray
- 30 ml witch hazel
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 150 ml water
- spray bottle
- funnel
- measuring jug
How to make Lavender linen spray
- Measure the witch hazel and water, and pour them into the spray bottle using a small funnel.
- Add the lavender essential oil drops.
- Screw on the lid and shake gently to blend the ingredients.

How to use Lavender linen spray
- Spritz lightly onto bedding, pillows or linens whenever you like. Allow a few minutes for the scent to settle before using the bed.
*Health caution* When using essential oils, remember some oils are not suitable for certain health conditions or during pregnancy. Always check guidance for the specific oil you use and consult a qualified aromatherapist or healthcare professional if in doubt. Store essential oils and homemade sprays out of reach of children.
I’m comfortable with a little moisture landing on soft furnishings when I spray linen, but if you have delicate or expensive items, spray away from those surfaces to avoid any risk of staining or water spots.
