Happy 2015! To kick off the new year, I’m looking back at the standouts from 2014. This roundup highlights reader favorites from the past year — recipes that delivered on flavor, comfort and creativity. I’ll be back with regular posts next week, so expect plenty more delicious ideas soon.

Top of the list is my pulled pork mac and cheese, affectionately known as piggy mac. The combination of tender pulled pork and ultra-cheesy macaroni made this the most popular recipe of the year — and still a favorite to dream about.

These sausage and pepper stuffed spaghetti squash boats started as a spontaneous Saturday experiment and quickly became one of my go-to weeknight dinners. They’re satisfying, easy to assemble and full of flavor.

Surprisingly, a salad made the list — thanks in part to a Pinterest feature. The strawberry goat cheese quinoa salad is packed with protein and brightened by a homemade strawberry vinaigrette that elevates every bite.

Refreshing and tropical, the coconut mojito is an easy favorite. It’s light, minty and perfect for warm evenings or any time you need a little island escape.

I photographed these bourbon BBQ meatballs and then ate the lot for lunch. Sweet, smoky and rich, they’re irresistible and great for gatherings or a cozy dinner.

I think about this spicy shrimp over creamy polenta frequently — the contrast of spicy shrimp and tomatoes with super-cheesy, silky polenta hits the perfect comfort-food note.

Cheese lovers, rejoice. The five cheese mac and cheese was a runaway favorite. It’s rich, gooey and exactly what you want when only the cheesiest dish will do.

The whole Meyer lemon tart sat in my archives for a while because I worried about the photos, but posting it was the right choice. Its bright, citrusy filling and crisp crust make it a memorable dessert.
The turkey apple brie panini with mustard maple mayo was a fall favorite that introduced a new obsession: honey mustard maple mayo. The combo of turkey, apple and melty brie is comforting and seasonal.

And finally, the peanut butter hot chocolate. Rich, cozy and unmistakably indulgent — it’s the kind of treat that needs no further explanation.
Thanks for revisiting 2014 with me. I can’t wait to share more recipes and kitchen experiments this year — stay tuned.
