These Candy Cane Jello Shots are a festive adult treat made with vanilla vodka, peppermint schnapps and crushed candy canes for a crisp holiday crunch.

If you’re bringing a dish to an adult holiday gathering and want something fun and memorable, these jello shots are always a hit. They combine a cherry-vanilla layer with a creamy peppermint layer to recreate the look and flavor of a candy cane. The recipe below walks through making the red cherry layer with vanilla vodka and the white peppermint layer with schnapps so the flavors come together perfectly.
Candy Cane Jello Shots
Preparation is similar to making standard jello but with a few extra steps to add alcohol and create the striped, angled layers. Follow the instructions carefully for best results.
Making Candy Cane Jello Shots
To achieve the twisted candy cane appearance, pour each layer while the shot glasses are tilted. A muffin tin works well to hold the glasses at an angle while the jello sets. Crushed candy cane pieces placed between layers add a crunchy contrast and festive finish.

The crushed candy canes are sprinkled between layers and on top with whipped cream for a classic holiday presentation.

Rate
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 3 tbsp Sugar
- 1 cup Peppermint Schnapps
- 1 cup Vanilla Vodka
- 2 packets Gelatin
- 1 packet Cherry Jello
- Whipped Cream
- Crushed Candy Canes
Instructions
Cherry Jello:
- Boil the boxed cherry jello with 1 cup of water, stirring until dissolved.
- When dissolved, stir in 1 cup of cold vanilla vodka. Set aside at room temperature.
White Layer:
- Combine 1 cup water and 3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan.
- Sprinkle 2 packets of gelatin over the mixture and let it bloom for a few minutes.
- Heat over medium-high, stirring until gelatin dissolves. Add about 3 tablespoons sugar and stir to combine.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup cold peppermint schnapps. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
- To assemble, add about 1 tablespoon of the red jello into each shot glass. Tilt glasses in a muffin tin so they set at an angle. Chill until set, about 30–45 minutes.
- Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the white peppermint layer over the red layer and chill until set, about 20–35 minutes.
- Repeat layering (red then white) two more times to build the candy cane stripe effect, finishing with red to fill the glass. Allow final layer to set completely.
- Top each shot with whipped cream and crushed candy canes before serving.
