Finding restaurants that accommodate a gluten-free diet can be a challenge. At Harry’s Pizzeria in Coconut Grove, gluten-free diners will find a variety of options and a team that understands the needs of those avoiding gluten. On a recent Sunday visit I was impressed by the food, the service, and the staff’s ability to confirm ingredients and preparation methods for gluten-free meals.
Lamb Merguez – Sunday Special
The Meal
Harry’s offers gluten-free choices across appetizers, salads, entrées, and dessert, making it easy to assemble a complete meal without gluten.
For an appetizer I ordered the Wood Oven Fired Wings. It had been a long time since I’d enjoyed wings like these. They were glazed with a spicy agrodolce that balanced heat and tang, making them addictive. A rosemary crema tempered the spice and complemented the wings perfectly. The server was able to confirm all ingredients and reassure me that the dish was gluten free. These wings are reason enough to return—consider ordering two portions.
For the entrée I tried the Sunday special, Lamb Merguez. The dish exceeded expectations: curried lentils paired with lamb created a layered, aromatic profile with flavors that hinted at Indian spices. A cooling yogurt sauce added creaminess while fresh cucumbers provided a crisp contrast. It was a satisfying and well-balanced plate I would happily order again.
Dessert was a panna cotta topped with raspberry compote and chopped almonds. The panna cotta was smooth and sweet, the compote added a bright tang, and the almonds provided a pleasant crunch. It was a light, refreshing finish to an enjoyable lunch.
