It’s been a while since I posted a cocktail, and what better way to welcome summer than with spicy mango margaritas? Margaritas are a favorite warm-weather drink: simple, bright, and endlessly adaptable. A classic margarita combines tequila, freshly squeezed lime juice, a citrus liqueur such as triple sec or Cointreau, and a touch of agave. A salted rim is optional but adds a nice contrast. This variation adds mango nectar for sweetness and fresh jalapeño for a gentle heat, giving you a refreshing twist on the familiar recipe.

For this cocktail you’ll need mango juice or mango nectar—brands like Jumex work well—and fresh jalapeño. If you prefer no heat, simply omit the jalapeño slices for a sweet mango margarita. For more spice, muddle the jalapeño in the shaker; for a milder kick, just add a couple of slices to the shaker while shaking. I aimed for a subtle, balanced heat that complements the mango without overpowering it.

These margaritas are perfect for summer gatherings and are easy to scale up. If mango nectar isn’t available, you can substitute orange or pineapple juice for a different fruit-forward margarita, or combine juices for a tropical mix. The recipe below includes measurements for a single serving and for a pitcher that yields eight servings, so you can make just one or a batch for friends and family.

- Single Serving
- 3 oz. tequila
- 2–3 slices jalapeño
- 3 oz. mango juice or nectar
- 2 oz. triple sec
- 2 oz. lime juice
- Pitcher
- 24 oz. tequila
- 1 jalapeño, sliced
- 24 oz. mango juice or nectar
- 16 oz. triple sec
- 16 oz. lime juice
- Lime wedges and coarse salt for serving, optional
- Single serving: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a glass, then dip the rim into coarse salt. Fill the glass with ice.
- Add the single-serving ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into the prepared glass. Garnish and enjoy.
- Pitcher: Combine all pitcher ingredients in a large pitcher and stir to blend. Remove jalapeño slices if you want milder flavor, or leave them in for extra heat.
- Prepare glasses with lime and salt as above, add ice, pour the margaritas, and serve.
